The Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra (VICO) is pleased to offer two unique opportunities this spring/summer, for composers who are interested in learning about and writing for traditional instruments from all over the world.
1. Sounds Global Composers’ Workshop (4 sessions in May & June)
Following an introductory session & instrument demo, composers are invited to bring sketches of works in progress for an intercultural quintet (see link below for instrumentation details) to be workshopped by VICO musicians over the course of 3 sessions.

2. VICO Summer Academy (June 26 – July 8)
Established and emerging musicians and composers are invited to apply for this innovative educational intensive, offering hands-on experience in creating and performing intercultural music. Space is limited, and the workshop spaces and instructional opportunities are tailored to the participating composers and musicians. The Summer Academy is open to composers and musicians aged 15 and up, of all nationalities and of every musical background.
