An Announcement from the VICO’s Board of Directors

July 25, 2024 – We have some important news to share with you, our community.

As of July 1, 2024, Mark Armanini has stepped down from his position as VICO’s Artistic Director. The Board and staff extend our heartfelt thanks to Mark for his many years of service to the VICO; his leadership has had a profound impact on the growth of the organization and its ability to survive and thrive through challenging times. We look forward to Mark’s continued involvement with the VICO as a composer, occasional project manager, and advisor. He now joins founder Moshe Denburg in holding the formal title of Artistic Director Emeritus.

Going forward, the Board has decided to take the opportunity of this transition to make a change to the VICO’s organizational structure – an adjustment that we believe will strengthen and streamline our internal operations. According to the new model, the VICO will be co-led by an Artistic Director and Managing Director; these positions will both report to the Board, and will have shared oversight over all the VICO’s artistic and administrative activities.

I am pleased to announce that the Board has offered these positions with 2-year terms to Farshid Samandari (Artistic Director) and Melanie Thompson (Managing Director), and both have accepted. They look forward to working together with the rest of the VICO’s core team, Board, other key contractors, musicians, composers, community partners and more to move the VICO forward into the future.

Thank you for being part of the VICO’s circle, and for your support always.
